Bonus points for Matsuda.

Fun fact, these shared the same headlight design as the Miata:
Only the Pathfinder, with its static headlight positioning, was too cute for the US domestic market to handle.
Maybe Mazda can do a retro CUV to sell now that crossovers are so popular now?

My wife told me that years ago in Japan, I was like, Matsuda whaaa? She explained. My in laws programmed her to believe all brands outside of Toyota are shit, she still believes that to a degree.

Mudlarking is cool, amazing what comes out of the Thames. They should toss that into the mud and let it be discovered a thousand years from now.

N
icola White and Si Finds on Youtube are some good mudlarking

Yes I have seen them, Nicola was here in Marin visiting a friend actually. I found a bottle from the 1920s with the cap still on here in the estuary. Not much to find here though...

Get ready, because I have a veritable human centipede of obscure 4x4s:
The Brazilian JPX Montez, which is a development of
The French Auverland, which is based upon the
Portuguese UMM Alter, which was an evolution of
the French Cournil 4x4, which was designed as a replacement for the
Hotchkiss Jeep, which was a license-built French version of the Willys.
And to make things even more confusing, the first three were all in production at the same time. And the Cournil was sold under like three different brands before becoming the UMM.

Very cool! Nova Scotian history only really started in the 1600s....well, of course the First Nations were here, but as most of their things were made from natural materials, they are of course long since gone, so theres not much to look for or metal detect for here :(

It's basically a fat Land Rover

Yeah, the Spanish were here and our main road is named after Sir Francis Drake, he did repairs in the estero at Point Reyes. But there isnt much to find. There was a barge that sank near SF and you can find pieces of china and silverware sometimes. I get old blue glass pieces at my surfing beach as well, but thats about it.

Yes, in fact Hotchkiss started by making spares for the 20k MBs that the US gifted to France at the end of the war. Many of those were non-functional units too, so they were broken down and recycled. Most if not all of the Hotchkiss Jeeps are actually a combination of original Willys bi ts and french-made reproduction parts.
In the early 80's the French military started replacing them with...
A licensed version of the G-Wagen built by Peugeot . Because designing their own truck is hard . Nevertheless , Hotchkiss Jeeps could be found in use by the French armed forces up until the turn of the century.

That makes sense, but the French using Mercedes?? Wow, the French had a few vehicles like Dangel stuff.. seems amazing to me they would use vehicles from a coun try that twice invaded them.

Its the rarest thing at the beach, I find more carnelians than blue glass. I have a spice jar almost full of carnelians now.

As an archeology major I am super jealous of people finding actual history. I like Chill Bills YouTube as well, he is British living in the French countryside, he finds Roman stuff.

Id love to even visit the UK once, do some mudlarking and even find a chip of an old Roman pot.....I took Greek and Roman history in university (Advanced History M
ajor / English Minor in a BA, and a BEd
with a focus in History/Social Studies and English), so even that would be an amazing tangible link, as mundane and everyday as it wouldve been to them back then....that would just make it all the more special.

Monteverdi Safari built on International Scout chassis

Oh I forgot about those, like a 2 door Range Rover.

If International had this level of styling and comfort, I think they would still be in the light truck business.

Yeah perhaps, and if they could resist rust.

Good point.
I forgot about the rust.....
